Yesterday’s opening of the US$450,000 Kanifing Migrant Resilience Hub gives voters another part of Talib Bensouda’s record to examine as The Gambia moves closer to the polls.
At a time when unemployment and irregular migration continue to take young Gambians away from home, KMC has secured international funding for a programme offering migrant returnees and other beneficiaries skills training, business support, mentorship, psychosocial services and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.
The timing also makes the project politically relevant. Talib is campaigning on a much bigger economic vision for The Gambia, including a plan to grow the country’s GDP to $20 billion by 2036.
Against those ambitions, the Migrant Resilience Hub offers voters a practical example of KMC’s approach to jobs, skills and entrepreneurship, which they can consider as they assess his record and wider economic proposals ahead of the 2026 election.
