A seven-year-old girl has died in Belgium after allegedly being severely beaten by her Senegalese mother and another woman, in a case involving the child’s Gambian father.
According to Senegalese media reports citing Les Échos, the girl’s parents, identified as Aminata and Gambian national Abdou Ly Maneh, had been separated for about six years. The mother had custody, while the child continued to spend weekends with her father.
The girl had reportedly expressed several times that she wanted to live with her father, which the reports say caused tension with her mother. She later died from injuries allegedly sustained after being beaten by her mother and the other woman.
Both women have reportedly been arrested, while Belgian authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and determine responsibility.
