Journalist-turned-politician Sulayman Waan is set to officially launch the Change Front political movement’s manifesto, The Salvation, on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the YMCA in Kanifing Municipality.
The more than 100-page document, comprising approximately 30 chapters, outlines the movement’s political doctrine, policy proposals and development priorities across key sectors of Gambian society and the economy.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Waan said The Salvation was developed to present the movement’s proposed approach to addressing some of The Gambia’s longstanding challenges.
“The Salvation is a comprehensive document that presents our political doctrine, our vision and our proposed solutions to the challenges facing The Gambia,” Waan said.
According to Waan, the manifesto presents two proposed economic transformation models covering both short-term and long-term approaches to economic development.
It also addresses healthcare, education, agriculture, security, energy, local government administration, diaspora affairs, land management and allocation, gender equality and other areas of national development.
Waan said the manifesto was designed to give the public an opportunity to examine the movement’s ideas and engage with its proposed policies.
“We want Gambians to understand clearly what we stand for, what we intend to do and how we intend to approach the development of this country,” he said.
Change Front said the document also examines challenges affecting households, communities and public institutions and sets out policy proposals the movement believes could help address them.
Waan, who worked professionally as a journalist before entering politics, said public participation would form an important part of the launch.
“Politics should not only be about politicians speaking to the people. It should also be about listening to the people, encouraging debate and allowing citizens to scrutinise the ideas being presented to them,” Waan said.
