Ousmane Sonko, now President of Senegal’s National Assembly, has filed his mandatory asset declaration with anti-corruption body OFNAC, topping the official list of compliant parliamentary officials.
The filing comes months after President Bassirou Diomaye Faye dismissed Sonko as Prime Minister on May 22, 2026, ending a governing partnership dating to 2024.
Tensions between the two have since surfaced repeatedly: on June 29, 2026, Sonko’s PASTEF-led Assembly passed a constitutional reform that would have required the president to also declare assets at the end of his mandate, not just on entry as current law requires.
Diomaye referred the reform to the Constitutional Council, which struck it down on procedural grounds. Sonko’s allies characterized the challenge as an attempt to dodge exit-declaration scrutiny; the presidency’s side has pointed to constitutional-procedure objections.
Today’s filing lands right in the middle of that fight.
