Heavy rains in Senegal have claimed lives, prompting President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to express condolences to the victims’ families and support for those affected by the flooding.
In a message shared on Facebook, President Faye said he was deeply saddened by the deaths linked to the recent downpours.
“It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the lives lost due to the recent heavy rains. I extend my sincere condolences to the mourning families and my support to all those impacted. I am closely monitoring the situation,” he said.
Faye said the government was fully mobilised to support affected communities and strengthen vigilance in areas considered vulnerable to flooding.
He also praised emergency responders and volunteers assisting those affected.
“I commend the dedication of the firefighters, state services, and volunteers on the ground,” the president wrote.
