Thousands of people turned out to purchase meat from the Vision Development Foundation’s selling point, as the organisation rolled out a subsidised initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged and needy families on the eve of Koriteh.
The intervention, led by philanthropist Turo Darboe, saw the purchase of 30 bulls for the exercise. Meat was sold at reduced prices, with beef at D400 per kilogram and meat with bone at D300 per kilogram.
The initiative is intended to ease the burden on families during the festive period, particularly those struggling to afford basic necessities.
Many beneficiaries described the support as timely and impactful, saying it has brought relief and enabled them to celebrate Koriteh with dignity.
Observers say the strong turnout reflects growing demand for community-driven support, especially during major religious festivities when the cost of living tends to rise.
