Senegal soldier killed, seven wounded in Casamance clash near Gambian border

Clashes between the Senegalese Armed Forces and suspected fighters of the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance left one soldier dead and seven wounded during a security operation on Thursday in the Djifangueuh area of Sindian, near the border with The Gambia, according to the army’s communications directorate, DIRPA.

The operation took place in northern Sindian in Senegal’s Casamance region, where security forces have intensified efforts in recent months to dismantle cannabis plantations and combat illegal timber trafficking.
