UNITE Party Leader and Coalition 2026 Flagbearer Talib Ahmed Bensouda has taken his nationwide tour into the heart of President Adama Barrow’s political stronghold, the Upper River Region.
Bensouda and his delegation have been touring communities across URR since Friday, with engagements continuing through Sunday. The three-day tour has covered Jimara, Basse, Tumana, and Kantora constituencies.
URR is widely regarded as a key support base for President Barrow, having delivered significant votes for him in the 2021 elections. Bensouda’s decision to spend multiple days touring the region signals a determined push to challenge the President on his home ground.
Throughout the tour, Bensouda has been moving freely from community to community, engaging with elders, women, and young people across the region. UNITE has already made significant progress in URR, gaining growing support across communities including Alunhare, Kulari, Garawol, and many others.
The response on the ground has been particularly encouraging, with women and young people coming out in large numbers to welcome Bensouda and demonstrate their support for UNITE and Coalition 2026. The strong community turnout reflects what the delegation describes as growing momentum and an increasing desire for political change across the region.
Bensouda’s presence in Barrow’s traditional stronghold reflects the changing political landscape ahead of the December 2026 presidential election and demonstrates UNITE’s determination to take its message to every corner of the country.
The delegation continues to meet communities, listen to their concerns, and present the vision of UNITE and Coalition 2026 for a better Gambia.
