Ousmane Sonko Blasts Delays in Macky-Era Corruption Cases

Published by: The Fatu Network

Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko delivered one of his fiercest public outbursts yet during Thursday’s interministerial council meeting, blasting the slow handling of corruption cases linked to former President Macky Sall’s administration and warning that “if this continues, there’s no point.”

Sonko said people had “done whatever they wanted,” while “billions” were wasted without judicial consequences despite promises to hold former officials accountable. He also fumed that “the system is intact,” suggesting old networks and protections are still operating despite the change of government.

The remarks add fresh fuel to growing speculation of tensions between Sonko and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as frustration appears to be boiling inside the ruling camp.
