Gambian singer, songwriter and dancer Dodou Manneh, known by his stage name Nyancho Apachaky, has reached two million views on YouTube with his song “Wolulo” within two months of its release.
He is the second Gambian artist reported to have reached the milestone in such a short period, following Ebrima Jallow, known as A2 Di Fulani, in 2021, when his song “Ta Tewto,” featuring Guinean artist Tati Tati, reached two million views on YouTube in under two months.
The music video became one of the fastest Gambian tracks to reach the milestone and later earned A2 Di Fulani a nomination at the 2021 AFRIMA Awards.
Nyancho Apachaky has used his music to address social and political issues, including accountability, justice and the challenges faced by ordinary people.
Released on July 4th, 2026, “Wolulo” focuses on leadership and the idea that public office is a responsibility entrusted by citizens to improve their welfare, maintain peace and create opportunities.
The song also reflects on the difficulties faced by ordinary people, including public servants who dedicate years to serving the country but may retire into financial hardship.
