The Mayor of the Banjul City Council, Rohey Malick Lowe, has hailed the enduring partnership between The Gambia and the People’s Republic of China as the two countries mark a decade since the resumption of diplomatic relations.
“Today marks the 10th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and The Gambia, a relationship built on trust and friendship,” Mayor Lowe said.
She highlighted China’s role in supporting national development, noting that “the People’s Republic of China has significantly contributed to the development of our nation in the areas of education, agriculture, health and infrastructure.”
The mayor congratulated both countries and expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation.
“Congratulations to both The Gambia and the People’s Republic of China, we are grateful,” she added.
Mayor Lowe also emphasised the importance of city-level partnerships, noting that Banjul, along with “the little Nanning of Jarra Sukuta”, joins in celebrating its sister city, Nanning, reflecting the growing ties between local communities in both countries.
The anniversary marks a decade of renewed collaboration and shared commitment to development, further strengthening diplomatic and cultural relations between the two nations.
