Another official from Senegal’s ruling party PASTEF has resigned as internal frustration grows within the movement. Jean Pierre Pama Marone, communications head of PASTEF, said in a letter he was stepping down after “accumulated disappointments” and “promises not kept,” accusing political leaders of indifference toward grassroots militants.
His departure follows other recent resignations and comes as some supporters express dissatisfaction with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s government, which critics say has drifted from the movement’s original agenda since taking power.
Marone, however, said he sides with neither camp in the divide between the presidency and the revolutionary wing associated with Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, declaring: “I am neither with the guardian of the Constitution nor the guardian of the revolution.”
