Former Senegalese President Macky Sall Campaigns For UN Top Post With Backing From Football Stars

Former Senegalese President Macky Sall, who has so far avoided formal charges over alleged financial irregularities during his administration, including accusations of forged documents, embezzlement, money laundering, and illicit enrichment, has continued to make high profile international appearances since leaving office.

Sall has been promoting his book, attending global conferences, and accepting invitations from foreign governments, including a recent visit to Azerbaijan.

He is also seeking the post of United Nations Secretary General with a nomination from Burundi rather than Senegal, and has recently received public endorsements from former football stars Yaya Touré and Emmanuel Adebayor.
