The UNITE movement has announced that it has received approval from the Independent Electoral Commission to register as a political party, seven months after its launch, formally clearing the way for it to contest the 2026 presidential election.
Since its formation late last year, the movement has rolled out nationwide structures, elected KMC Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda as party leader during its May national congress, unveiled its charter, and expanded its grassroots mobilisation across the country ahead of the polls.
The movement has also invited its members, supporters and the media to an official gathering at its Fajara bureau on Wednesday following the approval.
