Tabaski will be celebrated on different days across parts of West Africa and the Middle East this year, with Saudi Arabia and The Gambia officially fixing the Muslim feast, also known as Eid al-Adha, for Wednesday, May 27th, after the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon was sighted on Sunday evening in countries including Mauritania, Algeria, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France and Italy.
Senegal, however, has announced that the feast will instead be observed on Thursday, May 28th, after its national moon-sighting commission said the crescent was not seen anywhere in the country.
