By Dawda Baldeh

Senior QTV journalist Ansumana S.O. Nyassi has expressed deep gratitude after surviving a violent armed robbery at his home on June 2, 2026, which left him seriously injured and requiring surgery.

Nyassi said the attack had taken a heavy physical and emotional toll but praised the overwhelming solidarity shown during his recovery.

“I am deeply grateful for the kindness and solidarity shown to me and my family,” he said, noting that a call from President Adama Barrow offering encouragement was particularly comforting.

He also thanked senior figures including QGroup Chairman Muhammed Jah, GRA Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe, Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe, former Vice President Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang, and Ambassador Mohamed Al Amin Bah, describing their support as a source of strength.

Nyassi commended neighbours and community members for their swift response during the attack, saying their actions were crucial to his survival. He extended appreciation to civil society groups such as GALA and Team Gom Sa Bopa, as well as colleagues in the media fraternity.

He further praised the Gambia Police Force for daily visits and ongoing investigations, which he said had reassured his family. “As I continue my recovery, I ask for continued prayers and support,” Nyassi added, stressing that he remains hopeful and determined despite ongoing pain.

The incident has sparked widespread concern across The Gambia, with calls for stronger security measures and community vigilance. Authorities say investigations are continuing and have urged public cooperation and calm.
