Moroccan lawyers have reportedly moved to block a planned celebration of Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title at the Stade de France in Paris, following the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to award the title to Morocco.
Formal legal notices are said to have been sent to the stadium and event organisers, warning that displaying the disputed trophy could violate ownership claims and expose them to legal action, including possible court intervention and seizure of the trophy.
The move comes as Senegal continues to challenge CAF’s ruling, which overturned the final result and declared Morocco champions after deeming Senegal to have forfeited the match.
