The Balanta Youth Development Association (BAYDA) has announced its Annual Youth Football Festival, a three‑day celebration of grassroots sport and youth empowerment set for 10–12 April 2026 in Gunjur Kajabang, Kombo South.
Organised by BAYDA’s Sports Department, the event will bring together 14 competitive teams from across The Gambia to showcase skill, discipline, and passion for the game.
In a statement, BAYDA said: “The festival stands as a powerful platform for fostering unity and strengthening bonds within the Balanta community.”
The organisers described the tournament as more than just football, highlighting its role as a cultural and social gathering that reinforces shared identity while promoting peace, cooperation and cohesion.
A large turnout is expected, with football fans, community leaders and development partners set to attend. Beyond competition, the festival will champion values of teamwork, respect and solidarity.
BAYDA said the event reflects its commitment to nurturing young talent and creating opportunities for personal and athletic growth.
