Natives FC beat Daranka FC on penalties to lift the Kombo Kerewan Knockout title after a 1-1 draw in normal time and a 3–2 victory in the shootout, with goalkeeper Assan Touray saving two spot-kicks to secure the win.
Alieu Darboe put Natives FC ahead with goals in the 19th and 23rd minutes, but Daranka fought back through Kalipha Badjie (36) and Bruno Gomez (55) to force penalties. The final, backed by Trust Bank, drew strong local support and showcased emerging grassroots talent.
“This is my first trophy, and I am very happy because I have been training hard for this particular day and moving forward to represent my country at the international level, for I believe in my potential,” Touray said.
Natives coach Muhammed Sanneh hailed the victory as a milestone. “ This is this is the beginning and we expect to come back next year for both the league and knockout. And in sha Allah, by the place of God, we will do it again” he states.
Daranka boss Jaoquine Mendy praised his side’s fightback despite the defeat. “ Football is win or lose and we took the loss in good faith. We already have three trophies here and it’s unfortunate we couldn’t win the fourth but thank God that next year we’ll come back strong”. He pledges
