A deputy mayor in Senegal has been taken into custody in connection with the Pape Cheikh Diallo–Djiby Dramé case, bringing the number of people detained over alleged homosexuality-related offences to at least 64.
The official, identified as Chérif Aly Diatta, the second deputy mayor of Ouakam, was arrested by a gendarmerie investigation unit and is being questioned over suspected links to individuals already named in the case, including singer Djiby Dramé.
Local media say investigators are examining claims he had a romantic relationship with Dramé, citing evidence collected during the probe, although police have not publicly confirmed that specific claim.
