Senegalese commentator Kader Dia, a panellist on Sen TV’s programme Les Grandes Gueules, is the latest to be arrested in the widening Pape Cheikh Diallo case, after he was picked up on Wednesday, March 25th shortly after appearing on the show.

Authorities have arrested dozens of suspects, with local media reporting at least 46 people detained and the number still rising, in an investigation that began in early February, when television host Pape Cheikh Diallo was first arrested and has remained in custody.

The case, as described by investigators in local media reports, involves allegations of a network linked to offences against public morality, criminal conspiracy, alleged “unnatural acts”, the voluntary transmission of HIV, and money laundering.

Those detained include Senegalese nationals as well as foreign suspects from France, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast, pointing to an increasingly international dimension as the crackdown continues.
