The Gambia Action Party (GAP), led by Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly, has firmly denied reports claiming that the party has reached an agreement or entered into an alliance with the United Democratic Party (UDP) ahead of the 2026 Presidential Election.
The denial follows a report published by PYFC TV suggesting that GAP and the UDP had reached an understanding ahead of the election.
Batchilly said the report was inaccurate and urged the public to disregard it.
“For the avoidance of doubt, GAP has not signed any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reached any agreement, or entered into any formal alliance with the UDP or any other political party, movement, or coalition in relation to the 2026 Presidential Election,” he said.
The GAP leader called on party members, supporters and the general public to treat the report as unverified and refrain from spreading what he described as unconfirmed information.
“We urge all Gambians to remain calm and rely on verified information rather than rumours or unconfirmed reports,” Batchilly said.
He stressed that while GAP respects the role of the media and freedom of expression, political developments involving electoral alliances should be verified with the parties concerned before being reported as established facts.
According to Batchilly, any future decision by GAP regarding an alliance, coalition, partnership or electoral arrangement will be formally announced through the party’s official communication channels.
“GAP has not reached an agreement with the UDP,” he reiterated, thanking GAP members, supporters and the Gambian public for their continued trust and support.
