Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was honoured with The Fatu Network Impact Award, an international distinction that recognises leaders and changemakers whose influence is felt across their country and beyond, at the sixth edition of the TFN Heroes Awards at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre on Saturday, May 30.
The award was accepted on the Nigerian president’s behalf by two cabinet ministers. Receiving the award, Special Duties and Inter‑Governmental Affairs Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo, conveyed the president’s gratitude, saying: “On behalf of my boss, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the government and the good people of Nigeria, I extend His Excellency’s heartfelt appreciation to The Fatu Network for this Impact Award.
“This Recognition reflects the President’s commitment to leadership, service, and the pursuit of positive impact across Nigeria and Africa in general. I commend Fatu Network for celebrating excellence and inspiring transformative leadership,” said Zaohabiah Biztrus Jisalo.
The TFN Heroes Awards, now in its sixth year, is the largest awards ceremony in The Gambia. It celebrates achievement in a wide range of fields, presenting awards to individuals, organisations and initiatives —from public figures and activists, educationists, community leaders, businesses and cultural contributors — for notable impact at home and abroad.
Previous recipients of special honours from The Fatu Network include Gambian President Adama Barrow, Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio, and the presidents of Mali and Guinea.
The ceremony, which highlights the platform’s growing regional and global profile, is proudly sponsored by Africell, whose support has helped elevate the awards and celebrate individuals and institutions making a difference across the region.
