Gambia Football Federation (GFF) President Kemo Ceesay has led a nationwide inspection of football development projects, just weeks after taking office on September 3rd, succeeding Lamin Kaba Bajo, who headed the federation for 12 years.

Accompanied by senior GFF officials on Wednesday, Ceesay visited ongoing projects in Kuntaya, Kwinella, Jarra Soma, Bullock and Old Yundum to assess construction progress, challenges and outstanding work inherited from the previous administration.
According to the GFF, the delegation met with contractors, consultants and community leaders to gain “a clear picture of project progress, challenges, and local expectations,” as part of its efforts to strengthen grassroots football infrastructure.
His early tenure also coincides with encouraging results for Gambian youth football. The Under-17 Scorpions defeated Senegal to win the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A championship in September, securing qualification for the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations, while the Under-20 Scorpions have reached the regional semifinals unbeaten after victories over Mali and Guinea.
With youth teams delivering results and football facilities undergoing development across the country, Ceesay’s administration faces the task of sustaining these achievements and ensuring they translate into long-term progress for Gambian football.
