Gambian Worker Stabbed to Death in Street Fight Near Dakar

A 24-year-old Gambian worker, Mouhamed Dramé, has died after being stabbed during a late-night street fight in Rufisque, near Dakar, Senegal. The incident occurred around 23:00 on April 9th and involved Dramé and his 22-year-old neighbour, student Gaoussou Niang Diop, with reports indicating the altercation escalated when Diop allegedly stabbed him in the left thigh, leaving him critically wounded. He was rushed for treatment but died from his injuries early the next morning.

Police were formally notified of a violent death later that day and launched an investigation. The suspect later turned himself in, reportedly citing threats from the victim’s relatives, and is now in custody awaiting prosecution. He is also reported to have sustained a knee injury during the incident.
