CorpsAfrica/Gambia on Thursday hosted its third annual Pitch Day 2026, bringing together volunteers, development partners, and community representatives to showcase innovative solutions aimed at addressing challenges facing rural communities across The Gambia.

Speaking at the event, the Country Director of CorpsAfrica/Gambia, Foday Bojang, stressed the importance of equipping young people with practical and technical skills to solve community problems. He said volunteers are trained to think critically about the needs of their communities and develop sustainable solutions.
“Our volunteers have the ability to identify challenges and come up with solutions. They are trained with technical skills that enable them to effectively think about the community and the qualities they can bring to improve lives,” Bojang said.
Chairman of the Board of CorpsAfrica/Gambia, Adama Bah, described Pitch Day as a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and Africa’s ability to create impactful solutions.
“In the African community, we believe the best power comes from practical and effective solutions. Our model is rooted in addressing market challenges while keeping sustainability in mind,” Bah said.
Meanwhile, Communications Officer Mariama explained that CorpsAfrica is a Pan-African organization that recruits young Africans to serve in vulnerable communities for 10 months while supporting community development initiatives.
According to her, the organization has served about 75 communities across The Gambia from 2023 to 2026 through projects and community initiatives. She said one of the main challenges currently facing the organization is funding for community development projects.
Mariama, however, highlighted several achievements, including women empowerment projects, borehole installations, garden projects, water initiatives, and support for the construction of the Kasikunda Bridge.
