The Gambia Balanta Youth Development Association (BAYDA) will host a Balanta Cultural Heritage Exhibition on Saturday, 13 June 2026, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Presentation of Mary Nursery School, the group has announced.
The one‑day event aims to celebrate, preserve, and promote the traditions, language, values, and history of the Balanta people at a time when organisers say many cultural practices and indigenous knowledge risk being forgotten by younger generations.
BAYDA expects Balantas from across The Gambia and abroad to attend and has invited members of other communities to learn about the country’s cultural diversity. The exhibition will feature educational activities, cultural displays, and community engagement designed to strengthen cultural identity, promote unity and encourage collective efforts to safeguard African heritage for future generations.
