FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The organizers of the TFN Heroes Awards are proud to announce exciting updates for the 2026 edition, reflecting the continued growth and national impact of the awards platform.
Following an overwhelming response in previous editions and increasing public engagement, the organizers have introduced refined and updated award categories to better capture excellence, innovation, and impact across key sectors in The Gambia. These changes are part of a broader effort to ensure the awards remain relevant, inclusive, and representative of the evolving landscape of achievement in the country.
After five years of honoring excellence through the original categories, the organizers are expanding the awards to recognise even more deserving individuals and groups. This evolution ensures that the platform continues to showcase a wider range of achievements and contributions to society.
This year’s categories include:
The TFN Heroes Awards 2026 will also present three special international honours to distinguished personalities outside The Gambia, including one to a serving president. These awards highlight the platform’s growing regional and global profile, recognising leaders and changemakers whose influence extends beyond their own countries.
The TFN Heroes Awards 2026 is proudly sponsored by Africell, whose continued support has played a vital role in elevating the platform and celebrating individuals and institutions making a difference across the country.
The highly anticipated awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 30 May 2026; details on the venue will be announced in due course.
Launched in 2020 by The Fatu Network, the TFN Heroes Awards has become one of The Gambia’s leading platforms for recognising civic, cultural, and economic achievement. The awards combine public nominations and voting with expert adjudication and have honoured a mix of public figures, civil society leaders, business innovators, and cultural icons since inception. Past winners have included national figures such as Attorney General Abubacarr Tambadou and athlete Gina Bass, and the roll of honourees has featured senior statespeople and national icons whose awards were sometimes received by official representatives.
As the countdown begins, the public is encouraged to stay engaged for updates on nominations, voting, and event activities through official TFN Heroes Awards platforms.
