‘Logic Isn’t Lost on Us’: Environmental and Climate Activist Blasts ‘Manipulative’ Critics as GFF Election Heats Up

With the highly anticipated Gambia Football Federation (GFF) presidential election approaching, environmental and climate activist Dr. Omar Malmo Sambou has launched a scathing attack on critics of Colonel Musa Jammeh, challenging them to promote their own candidates’ credentials instead of, he says, relying on smear campaigns.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Sambou weighed in on the intensifying election debate, accusing some critics of applying double standards.

He questioned those who criticise the current GFF leadership under GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo while supporting candidates who have also served within the federation.

“Tell me Kaba is bad, but your candidates who served under him with shady records are good? Go fool yourselves,” Dr. Sambou wrote. “Going by their own manipulative tactics, Musa is the right man for the job.”

He also challenged what he described as inconsistencies in their arguments.

“Kaba can’t be bad by critics’ definition, yet the Finance Director be good, plus a man who claims the federation’s money got lost during travel,” he argued.

“Logic and common sense aren’t lost on us. Sell your candidate without being deceitful and manipulative toward others.”

Defending Colonel Jammeh’s candidacy, Dr. Sambou urged voters to judge candidates by their track records rather than political rhetoric.

He described Colonel Jammeh as a former footballer, club owner, seasoned sports administrator, disciplined senior army officer and distinguished professional.

“Tell me about your candidates, not the propaganda,” Dr. Sambou concluded. “Good luck, Colonel, and respect always.”
