Authorities in the Lower River Region have retrieved the body of 17-year-old Ebrima Camara, who reportedly took his own life late Thursday inside his adoptive father’s shop in Kiang Karantaba.

The body is being transported to Banjul for a possible post-mortem examination as police investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Camara, from Kiang West District, reportedly lived at the family shop with his stepmother, while his adoptive father operated another shop nearby.

According to The Alkamba Times, residents described the teenager’s death as a heartbreaking loss for the community.

Sources cited by the newspaper linked the incident to private family issues, although authorities have not publicly established what led to his death.

One resident, who spoke anonymously, described the news as “incredible” and “very sad,” saying the teenager was “too young and innocent.”

Police investigations are ongoing, with further details expected once official findings are available.
